This movie is a favorite because you get to see how Hercules can be funny too—and not just super tough all the time like in most depictions. One scene that we really liked was when he gets captured and tied up high on top of some buildings during an invasion; Hades releases him from this with ease while everyone else struggles down below. The whole thing turns into something sort of absurdist comedy even though there are plenty serious moments where they deal with actual, deep topics.
The movie is jam-packed full of good stuff, including a lot of action and romance that’s not too cheesy or sappy—plus there are mentions to the gods throughout. It feels like you can tell they really put a lot of thought into it when they made this one! The animation in it is also gorgeous; we were totally blown away by how life-like everything was.
Kids will love Hercules because he has a big personality (although he’s still kind!), but adults might find him irritating at times since his jokes get repetitive after awhile and some people may just be more used to Hades as an antihero than someone who falls in love with mortal women all the time. But if you can look past that, this movie is totally worth it!
The animation in Hercules was gorgeous and we were blown away by the life-like quality. The story seemed to be well thought out with a lot of humor for adults too (and there’s plenty of action!). If you can get past some repetitive jokes and Hades being portrayed as an antihero, then this movie will definitely keep your attention from start to finish. It made us feel so excited about how good old Disney classics are going these days!
